Identification
Mera-Rodriguez, et al. (2020) - Triangular propodeal denticles present; ventral profile of gaster convex anteriorly and concave posteriorly; and ventral profile of gaster in lateral view sinuous (Lattke 1997).
Distribution
Mera-Rodriguez, et al. (2020) - Colombia, from the Pacific coast to the Andean region, Costa Rica, French Guiana, and Panama (Brandão 1991; Lattke 1997; Fernández and Sendoya 2004).

- chocoense. Apterostigma chocoense Lattke, 1997: 148, figs. 8, 18, 28, 29, 40, 51 (w.) COLOMBIA.
- Type-material: holotype worker, 13 paratype workers.
- Type-locality: holotype Colombia: Chocó, 800 m., 10 km. SW San José del Palmar, Rio Torito, 1-4.vi.1978 (C. Kugler); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: MCZC (holotype); BMNH, ICNB, LACM, MCZC, MIZA, MZSP (paratypes).
- Status as species: Fernández & Serna, 2019: 839.
- Distribution: Colombia, Costa Rica.
