Pinch-neck Carpenter Ants
Diagnosis. Emery (1925). - "Worker. - Small species; caste dimorphism not well known, probably no more pronounced than in senex group of Myrmobrachys. Head and clypeus conforms almost as in Myrmobrachys. Frontal carinae shorter and more divergent than in Myrmobrachys. Pronotum broad, shoulders bordered with sharp edges; border, more-or-less narrowly rounded (blunt), continuous onto mesonotum and sometimes on sides of propodeum which is posteriorly rounded (e.g., C. eurynotus, Forel), or border surrounding mesonotum which is separated from propodeum; dorsal propodeal surface narrower than mesonotum and forms, in some species, a mousse tubercle (C. linnaei, Forel), or ends in small, unpaired process (C. saussurei, Forel, allsainti, Wheeler & Mann). Petiole with similar variation as in Myrmocladoecus.
Geographical distribution of the species.- Greater Antilles, Brazil (Amazon Basin)."
Myrmeurynota is currently a subgenus of Camponotus.
