Pristomyrmex rasnitsyni is the only known fossil within the genus Pristomyrmex and is found well outside the geographic range of modern species. It is known from a single specimen, which is a mostly complete adult worker preserved within a transparent piece of Scandinavian (also known as Danish) amber.
