Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- clavata. Aphaenogaster clavata Emery, 1877b: 372 (w.) ETHIOPIA. Combination in Pheidole: Emery, 1892a: 114.
Type Material
- Syntype, 4 worker, Bogos, Keren, Eritrea, 1870, O. Beccari, Naturhistorisches Museum Wien, Vienna; see Madl (2019).
