- Type-material: syntype workers (number not stated).
- Type-localities: Zimbabwe (“Rhodesia”): Bulawayo, Hillside, 13.v.1917 (G. Arnold), Zimbabwe: Sawmills, Umgusa River, 30.i.1918 and 1.ii.1918 (G. Arnold).
- Type-depositories: BMNH, SAMC.
- Status as species: Bolton, 1981a: 49 (redescription); Bolton, 1995b: 251.
- Distribution: Botswana, Zimbabwe.
