Two fossil species of Gesomyrmex were described from the Oligocene of Germany based on incomplete compressions (Théobald, 1937) but were excluded from this genus by Dlussky et al. (2009): Gesomyrmex expectans was transferred to Eoformica and Gesomyrmex miegi was treated as incertae sedis in Formicidae (Aria et al., 2023).
