- Type-material: 4 syntype workers.
- Type-locality: Algeria: El Kantara, iii.-v.1911 (W. Karawajew).
- Type-depository: SIZK.
- As unavailable (infrasubspecific) name: Emery, 1925a: 71.
- Subspecies of sicheli: Bolton, 1995b: 113.

Taxonomic Notes
Seifert (2019): The type specimens of this taxon have been collected near El Kantara which is either in Tunisia or Algeria. The original description indicates similarities in color and propodeal shape to Camponotus lateralis but Karavajev noted that the petiole scale is very thick in profile view, being thicker in the upper third than at base, and shows a very rounded crest. This character and the zoogeographic distance suggest that this taxon is not conspecific with C. lateralis or Camponotus rebeccae and is probably close to Camponotus guanchus.
