Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- palmyrensis. Camponotus palmyrensis Tohmé, G. & Tohmé, 2000: 392, fig. 4 (w.q.m.) SYRIA.
- Type-material: holotype worker, 14 paratype workers, 15 paratype queens, 15 paratype males.
- Type-locality: holotype Syria: 15 km. NW Palmyra, 1.v.1974 (Tohmé).
- Type-depository: MNHN.
- Combination in Tanaemyrmex: Tohmé & Tohmé, 2000: 392.
- Status as species: Borowiec, L. 2014: 39.
- Distribution: Syria.
