- Type-material: syntype major and minor workers, syntype queens, syntype males (numbers not stated).
- Type-locality: Christmas I.: (no further data) (C.W. Andrews).
- Type-depository: BMNH.
- Combination in C. (Tanaemyrmex): Donisthorpe, 1935: 635.
- Subspecies of maculatus Emery, 1896d: 371 (in list).
