- Type-material: holotype worker, 58 paratype workers, 1 paratype queen.
- Type-locality: holotype Japan: Okinawa, Ishigaki I., Mt Omoto, 1.iii.1975 (M. Tanaka); paratypes: 58 workers, 1 queen with same data.
- Type-depositories: BMNH (holotype); BMNH, MCZC, NHMB, Tanaka private collection (paratypes).
- Junior synonym of kraepelini: Imai, et al. 2003: 136.
- Status as species: Onoyama, 1980: 198; Ogata, 1991b: 102; Bolton, 1995b: 415; Yamane, Hosoishi & Ito, 2022: 57.
- Distribution: Japan.
