Known from its type collection, no biological information is known about this species.
Identification
Bolton (2000) - A member of the cygarix complex in the Strumigenys caniophanes-group. Only three species in the caniophanes-group lack long erect hairs on the hind tibiae and basitarsi, Strumigenys sardella, tadynastes and Strumigenys tomodonta. Notes on the main features isolating each of these are given under tomodonta.

Description
Worker
Holotype. TL 2.6, HL 0.70, HW 0.51, CI 73, ML 0.31, MI 44, SL 0.36, SI 71, PW 0.31, AL 0.73. Mandible with a small triangular preapical tooth. Dorsolateral margin of head in full-face view with 3 freely laterally projecting filiform hairs that are quite short, at most about one-third of SL: one at level of eye, one midway between this and apex of scrobe, one in apicoscrobal position [another may be present near occipital corner but the few specimens available are all somewhat abraded here so this is not sure]. Cephalic dorsum with a transverse row of 4 erect simple hairs along occipital margin but without a pair of standing hairs at highest point of vertex. Dorsum of head finely densely reticulate-rugulose, the reticulae very small and low, filled with dense reticulate-punctate sculpture. Dorsal alitrunk, petiole and disc of postpetiole all densely sculptured. Anterior coxae weakly transversely costulate on their outer surfaces. Pleurae and side of propodeum with spaced sharply incised punctures, katepisternum may have a smooth patch. Pronotal humeral hair filiform and simple, very shallowly curved. Promesonotal dorsum with 4-5 pairs of erect simple hairs; similar but somewhat longer hairs present on first gastral tergite. Dorsal surfaces of femora, tibiae and basitarsi with short curved pilosity that is simple and mostly decumbent, without long erect freely projecting filiform or flagellate hairs. Petiole node in dorsal view as long as or slightly longer than broad. Petiole in profile not subclavate, node with an anterior face that is differentiated from the peduncle and dorsum.
Paratypes. TL 2.7-2.8, HL 0.74-0.76, HW 0.52-0.53, CI 70, ML 0.34, MI 45-46, SL 0.38-0.39, SI 72-75, PW 0.31-0.32, AL 0.74-0.76 (2 measured).
