Description
Worker
Holotype. TL 2.2, HL 0.56, HW 0.42, CI 75, ML 0.16, MI 29, SL 0.28, SI 67, PW 0.27, AL 0.60. Anwering the description of biroi, differing only as follows.
1 Pleurae and side of propodeum mostly to entirely reticulate-punctate; in many individuals the entire surface sculptured but in some there is a small clear patch on the katepisternum, metapleuron, or both.
2 Disc of postpetiole has fine longitudinal costulae and some weak punctulae may also occur; appressed spatulate hairs on disc may partially obscure the sculpture.
Paratypes. TL 2.2, HL 0.55-0.57, HW 0.41-0.43, CI 74-77, ML 0.16-0.17, MI 28-30, SL 0.27-0.29, SI 65-68, PW 0.25-0.28, AL 0.58-0.60 (10 measured).
The non-paratypic specimens are notably smaller than the type-series but have the same indices: HL 0.50, HW 0.37, CI 74, ML 0.15, MI 30, SL 0.24, SI 65.
Type Material
Holotype worker, Papua New Guinea: Morobe, Wau, Mt Mission, 22.v.1992, 2400 m. (G. Cuccodoro) (Musee d'Histoire Naturelle Genève).
Paratypes. 23 workers and 1 queen with same data as holotype (MHNG, The Natural History Museum, Museum of Comparative Zoology).
