Bolton (2000) - A member of the koningsbergeri complex in the Strumigenys koningsbergeri-group. See Strumigenys chorosa.

Description

Worker

Holotype. TL 2.4, HL 0.70, HW 0.60, CI 86, ML 0.30, MI 43, SL 0.34, SI 57, PW 0.31, AL 0.65. With characters of koningsbergeri-complex. Preocular concavity forms a shallow depression on ventral surface of head. Upper scrobe margins not constricted above eye, either eye not visible in full-face view or only extreme outermost part of its arc visible. Outer edge of upper scobe margin jagged, bearing a series of low triangular tubercles or small teeth. Depression across posterior vertex of head obsolete, almost effaced. Pronotum with a pair of short standing hairs close to anterodorsal margin. Pronotal humeral hair stiff, straight and simple. A single erect pair of hairs on mesonotum. Katepisternum mostly smooth; metapleuron with a smooth patch where sculpture is mostly effaced or absent. Bullae of femoral glands absent on middle and hind legs. Lamella on propodeal declivity broad, in profile its posterior (free) margin concave at level of spiracle but distinctly convex below this; maximum width of lamella at least equal to length of propodeal tooth. Node of petiole in dorsal view almost two times broader than long. Standing hairs on first gastral tergite mostly simple, bluntly pointed apically; some weakly flattened and slightly expanded toward apex.

Paratype. TL 2.3, HL 0.68, HW 0.58, CI 85, ML 0.29, MI 43, SL 0.33, SI 57, P W 0.30, AL 0.62.

Type Material

Holotype worker, Malaysia: Pahang [recte Selangor], Gombak, 1.iv.1993, forest litter, #25a (Lobl & Calame) (Musee d'Histoire Naturelle Genève). Paratype. 1 worker with same data as holotype (The Natural History Museum).
