Revived from synonymy as subspecies of acantha: Emery, 1925b: 194. Revived status as species: Donisthorpe, 1932c: 466.

Kohout (2008) - Holotype worker. INDONESIA, SULAWESI, Tondano (A. R. Wallace), Oxford University Museum of Natural History (examined).

Polyrhachis diaphantus
Two worker syntypes in Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Both labelled “Tond.” (= Tondano, Sulawesi) and with a Donisthorpe type-label.
