- Type-material: 7 syntype workers, 1 syntype queen.
- Type-locality: 6 workers Guinea: Mt Nimba, station F, prairie, 1400 m. (Lamotte), 1 worker, 1 queen Guinea: Mt Nimba, prairie, 1550 m. (Lamotte).
- Type-depository: MNHN.
- Status as species: Bolton, 1981a: 52 (redescription); Bolton, 1995b: 251.
- Distribution: Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea.
