  • iridescens. Ponera iridescens Smith, F. 1857a: 66 (w.) BORNEO. Wheeler, G.C. & Wheeler, J. 1976a: 51 (l.); Imai, Brown, et al. 1984: 67 (k.). Combination in Lobopelta: Roger, 1863b: 19; in Leptogenys: Forel, 1901f: 329. Current subspecies: nominal plus currens.

Ponera iridescens

Holotype worker in Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Labelled “SAR.” on one disc and “56/44” on another, and with a Donisthorpe type-label.



  • 2n = 46 (Indonesia; Malaysia; Sarawak) (Imai et al., 1983; Imai et al., 1985).
