Key to Australian Mesoponera Species

The following key will allow identification of the two known Australian Mesoponera species.

• Anterior clypeal margin angled medially; dorsal face of propodeum similar in length to the posterior face, or shorter; dorsal surface of gaster lacking erect or suberect hairs => Mesoponera australis

• Anterior clypeal margin uniformly convex medially; dorsal face of propodeum distinctly longer than posterior face; dorsal surface of gaster with erect or suberect hairs => Mesoponera rubra
