The species description states that collections of this ant were made in the forest and their nests were built in “resin trees” (presumably the common species Styrax benzoin).
Identification
Gauromyrmex bengkalisi is similar to Gauromyrmex acanthinus, its only congener, but can be separated by the foveolate mesopleuron of bengkalisi in comparison to the relatively smooth mesopleuron of acanthinus.
