    • Type-material: holotype worker (caste not stated), paratype major and minor workers (numbers not stated).
    • Type-locality: holotype South Africa: Cape Prov., Tiervlei, iii.1957 (S.H. Skaife); paratypes with same data.
    • Type-depositories: SAMC (holotype); BMNH, SAMC (paratypes).
    • Subspecies of werthi: Bolton, 1995b: 124.
