- Type-material: 1 syntype major worker, 1 syntype minor worker.
- Type-locality: Egypt: Upper Egypt, Lake No (A. Reichensperger).
- Type-depository: NHMB.
- Status as species: Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 984; Emery, 1925b: 133; Bolton, 1995b: 120; Borowiec, L. 2014: 40 (see note in bibliography).
- Distribution: Egypt.
- Current subspecies: nominal plus completus.
