- Type-material: syntype workers (number not stated).
- Type-locality: Tunisia: Oued Zroud, 4 km. E Kairouan (F. Santschi).
- Type-depository: NHMB.
- Subspecies of atlantis: Bernard, 1953a: 187; Bolton, 1995b: 118.
