- Type-locality: Peru: Marcapata (no collector’s name) (from Staudinger & Bang-Haas).
- Type-depository: MSNG.
- Combination in C. (Pseudocolobopsis): Emery, 1925b: 159.
- Status as species: Emery, 1925b: 159; Kempf, 1972a: 64; Bolton, 1995b: 110; Bezděčková, et al. 2015: 112.
- Distribution: Peru.
