    • Type-material: syntype major and minor workers, syntype queens, syntype males (numbers not stated, “numerous”).
    • Type-locality: Ecuador: Galapagos Is, Tower I. (= Genovesa I.), 1923 (W.M. Wheeler).
    • Type-depository: MCZC.
    • Subspecies of macilentus: Wheeler, W.M. 1935g: 44; Linsley & Usinger, 1966: 176; Kempf, 1972a: 63; Bolton, 1995b: 91; Herrera, Tocora, et al. 2024: 165.
