Nomenclature

The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.

  • dorsalis. Camponotus (Myrmotrema) foraminosus st. dorsalis Santschi, 1926b: 265, fig. 6D,E (s.w.q.) DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, TANZANIA.
    • Type-material: 4 syntype major and minor workers, 1 syntype queen.
    • Type-localities: 2 workers, 1 queen Democratic Republic of Congo (“Congo belge”): Saint Gabriel, nr Stanleyville (= Kisangani) (H. Kohl) (received from Forel), 2 workers Tanzania (“Tanganika”): Turiani (A. Loveridge) (received from Crawley).
    • Type-depository: NHMB (perhaps also MHNG).
    • Subspecies of foraminosus: Bolton, 1995b: 97.
    • Distribution: Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania.
