- Type-material: holotype major worker, paratype major (?) and minor workers (numbers not stated).
- Type-locality: holotype South Africa: Transvaal, Nelspruit, iii.1953 (W. Buttiker); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: SAMC (holotype); BMNH, SAMC (paratypes).
- Status as species: Bolton, 1995b: 90.
