Countries Occupied
Number of countries occupied by this species based on AntWiki Regional Taxon Lists. In general, fewer countries occupied indicates a narrower range, while more countries indicates a more widespread species. |
Estimated Abundance
Relative abundance based on number of AntMaps records per species (this species within the purple bar). Fewer records (to the left) indicates a less abundant/encountered species while more records (to the right) indicates more abundant/encountered species. |

Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- arabicus. Camponotus arabicus Collingwood, 1985: 278, figs. 67, 72, 74 (s.w.q.) SAUDI ARABIA.
- Type-material: holotype major worker, paratype major and minor workers, paratype queens (numbers not stated).
- Type-locality: holotype (?) Saudi Arabia: Riyadh Agricultural Centre, 30.i.1980 (A.S. Talhouk); paratypes: with same data, with same data but 19.iv.1983 (C.A. Collingwood).
- [Note: Collingwood mentions that the holotype (major worker) and paratypes are from Riyadh, but does not specify the date of collection or the collector of the holotype.]
- Type-depository: NHMB (perhaps also WMLC).
- [Note: in this publication much type-material was referred to NHMB but was apparently never deposited there.]
- Combination in C. (Tanaemyrmex): Bolton, 1995b: 86.
- Status as species: Bolton, 1995b: 86; Collingwood & Agosti, 1996: 372; Borowiec, L. 2014: 26; Sharaf, Wetterer, et al. 2022: 10.
- Distribution: Oman, Saudi Arabia.
