- Type-material: syntype major and minor workers (numbers not stated).
- Type-locality: Angola: Ebanga, 30 km. N Ganda, xi.-xii.1932, no. 178 (A. Monard).

- Combination in C. (Tanaemyrmex): Bolton, 1995b: 83.
- Subspecies of maculatus: Bernard, 1953b: 261.
