Identification
Similar to Vollenhovia emeryi, but differs form the latter by the following characters : body blackish brown , dorsum of postpetiole with coarse and dense punctures , mandibles smooth and shiny without punctures. The new species can also be distinguished easily from other known relative species of the East Asia by the characterstics mentioned above.

Description
Type Material
Holotype: worker, 1600m Mulinzi Nature Reserve, Hefeng County, Hubei Province, 26 Aug. 2004, Wang Wei leg. Paratypes: 12 workers, 2 females and 2 males, collected from the same nest of the holotype. Deposited in the Insect Collection , Hubei Institute for Nationalities , China.
