Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- pluto. Amblyopone pluto Gotwald & Lévieux, 1972: 384, figs. 1-26 (w.q.m.) IVORY COAST.
- Type-material: holotype worker, paratype workers, paratype queens, paratype males (numbers not stated).
- Type-locality: holotype Ivory Coast: Lamto Field Station of the University of Abidjan (ca 50 km. S Toumodi, 6°13’N, 5°41’W), 16.viii.1965, nest AA 104 (J. Lévieux); paratypes: some with same data but others with variant dates and nest numbers. The authors do not provide details but mention “type-nest and 4 additional samples”, comprising at least 15 workers, 5 queens and 2 males.]
- Type-depositories: MNHN (holotype); BMNH, MCZC, MNHN (paratypes).
- Combination in Stigmatomma: Yoshimura & Fisher, 2012a: 19.
- Status as species: Bolton, 1995b: 62.
- Distribution: Ivory Coast.
