- Type-locality: Brazil: Mato Grosso, Víla Vera (12°46’S, 55°30’W), x.1973 (M. Alvarenga).

- Combination in Solenopsis: Pacheco & Mackay, 2013: 37 (by implication); Ward, et al. 2015: 75.
- [Note: the type-species of Carebarella (C. bicolor Emery, 1906c: 138) was transferred to Solenopsis by Pacheco & Mackay, 2013: 37, 119, establishing Carebarella as a junior synonym of Solenopsis.]
- Status as species: Brandão, 1991: 336; Bolton, 1995b: 134.
