Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- silvicola. Podomyrma silvicola Smith, F. 1860b: 110 (w.) INDONESIA (Batjan I.). [Misspelled as sylvicola by Mayr, 1863: 443.] Senior synonym of castanea: Taylor, 1999: 174. Current subspecies: nominal plus bicolor, dimidiata.
- castanea. Podomyrma castanea Stitz, 1911a: 358, fig. 7 (w.) AUSTRALIA. Junior synonym of striata: Viehmeyer, 1914c: 520; of silvicola: Taylor, 1999: 174.
