- Type-material: syntype workers (number not stated, “one colony”).
- Type-locality: South Sudan (“Anglo-Egyptian Sudan”): Imatong Mts, ca 6000 ft, 1939, no. 1363 (N.A. Weber).
- Type-depository: MCZC (perhaps also in AMNH).
- Combination in Parasyscia: Borowiec, M.L. 2016: 205.
- Status as species: Weber, 1943c: 293; Brown, 1975: 23, 62; Bolton, 1995b: 145.
- Senior synonym of variolosus: Brown, 1975: 23; Bolton, 1995b: 145.
- Distribution: Nigeria, South Sudan, Zimbabwe.
