- Type-locality: holotype Saudi Arabia: Fayfa, 17°16’N, 43°05’E, 27.iii.1983 (C.A. Collingwood); paratypes: workers with same data, workers Saudi Arabia: Khama, mangrove swamp, 1.iv.1983 (C.A. Collingwood), workers Yemen: Rissabah, 18.xi.1991 (A. van Harten), workers Yemen: Wadi Surdud, 29.xii.1991 (A. van Harten).

Description
Worker
Holotype: TL 3.0; HL 0.73; HW 0.58; SL 0.58; range: CI 82-87; SI 89-102; EL/HW 0.234-0.245.
The head is broad with curved sides and emarginate occiput. The clypeus is emarginate. The mesopropodeal furrow is deep and the propodeal dorsum rounds steeply into its declivous face and has a wide longitudinal furrow with raised side margins. The petiole is relatively high and steep, transverse in dorsal view. There are several long hairs on the pronotum and a few short suberect hairs on the mesopropodeum and on the lower genae. The petiole has one pair and the postpetiole two pairs and there are scattered hairs on the first gastral tergite. The head, alitrunk and nodes are bright red and the gaster a strongly contrasted dark colour.
