- Type-material: holotype worker, 4 paratype workers, 4 paratype queens (2 lacking heads).
- Type-locality: holotype Cape Verde: São Nicolau I., Monte Gordo, 9-15.xii.1953 (Lindberg); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: BMNH (holotype); BMNH, DAPC, XEPC (paratypes).
- Status as species: Bolton, 1995b: 260.
- Distribution: Cape Verde.
