- Type-material: lectotype worker (by designation of Schödl, 2004: 351), 4 paralectotype workers.
- Type-locality: lectotype Australia: New South Wales (Walcher); paralectotypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: MHNG (lectotype); ANIC, MHNG, NHMB (paralectotypes).
- Subspecies of puryi: Emery, 1924d: 229; Viehmeyer, 1925a: 27; Taylor & Brown, 1985: 68; Taylor, 1987a: 39.
