Taylor et al. (2018) report this species to be widespread across the sahelian savannah (as reported by Diamé et al., 2017), and in Benin found it to be ground nesting and foraging and occurring in mango (Mangifera indica) orchards (where it was observed prey of Oecophylla longinoda) and on Acacia hockii, Acacia sieberiana, Isoberlinia doka and Terminalia laxiflora.
