Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- smithi. Amblyopone smithi Brown, 1960a: 211, fig. 40 (w.) AUSTRALIA (South Australia).
- Type-material: holotype worker, 1 paratype worker.
- Type-locality: holotype Australia: South Australia, Lofty Ranges, nr Mt Lofty, ca 550 m., 8.xii.1950 (W.L. Brown); paratype with same data.
- Type-depositories: MCZC (holotype); unknown (paratype).
- [Note: Brown, 1960a: 212 says the paratype “to be deposited in a major Australian collection”; presently unknown.]
- Combination in Stigmatomma: Yoshimura & Fisher, 2012a: 19;
- combination in Fulakora: Ward & Fisher, 2016: 691.
- Status as species: Taylor & Brown, 1985: 20; Taylor, 1987a: 6; Bolton, 1995b: 63.
