- Type-material: holotype queen, 1 paratype queen, 8 paratype males, paratype workers (number not stated, “many”).
- Type-locality: holotype Costa Rica: San José (Schmidt); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depository: MZSP.
- Subspecies of vagans: Kempf, 1972a: 104; Bolton, 1995b: 185.
- Distribution: Costa Rica, Panama.
