- montanus. Dorylus (Alaopone) montanus Santschi, 1910g: 750, fig. 8 (m.) TANZANIA.
- Type-material: 4 syntype males.
- Type-locality: Tanzania (“Afrique orientale allemande”): Kilimanjaro, Kiboscho, 1400 m., ii.1904 (Ch. Alluaud).
- Type-depository: MNHN (perhaps also in NHMB).
- Santschi, 1914b: 66 (w.).
- Status as species: Santschi, 1914b: 66; Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 750; Santschi, 1939a: 147; Bolton, 1995b: 179.
- Distribution: Tanzania.
