- Type-material: 10 syntype workers.
- Type-locality: Senegal: Dakar (F. Silvestri).
- Type-depository: NHMB (perhaps also DEUN).
- Combination in C. (Sphaerocrema): Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 848.
- Subspecies of pronotalis: Santschi, 1915c: 252 (in key); Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 848; Emery, 1922e: 153.
