- Type-material: syntype workers (number not stated).
- Type-locality: Indonesia: Sumatra, Suban Ajam, vii.1916 (E. Jacobson).
- Type-depository: OXUM.
- Subspecies of spengeli: Chapman & Capco, 1951: 102; Bolton, 1995b: 150.
- Subspecies of coriaria: Hosoishi & Ogata, 2015b: 4 (by implication, as spengeli synonymised under coriaria).
- Distribution: Indonesia (Sumatra).
