Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- consternens. Myrmica consternens Walker, 1859: 374 (w.m.) SRI LANKA.
- Type-material: 2 syntype workers, 2 syntype males.
- [Notes (i): number of specimens as cited by Donisthorpe, 1932b: 576; (ii) according to Donisthorpe the two workers are a Solenopsis species, while the two males are Monomorium minutum Mayr.]
- Type-locality: Sri Lanka (“Ceylon”): (no further data) (F. Walker).
- Type-depository: BMNH.
- Combination in Solenopsis and Monomorium: Donisthorpe, 1932b: 576;
- combination in Crematogaster: new combination (unpublished).
- Unidentifiable taxon: Forel, 1903a: 698.
