Taylor et al. (2018), working in Benin, found this ground nesting species in mango (Mangifera indica) orchards and foraging on Acacia gourmaensis, Acacia sieberiana and Anacardium occidentale.

Taxonomic Notes
Taylor et al. (2018) suggest that Crematogaster luctans sordidoides is a junior synonym of C. chlorotica, but provide no evidence to support this proposal. This treatment has not been followed by subsequent authors.
