Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- regicidus. Bothriomyrmex regicidus Santschi, 1919i: 206, pl. 2, figs. 5-10 (w.q.m.) TUNISIA.
- Type-material: lectotype queen (by designation of Seifert, 2012b: 101), 8 paralectotype (?) workers, 1 paralectotype queen, 2 paralectotype (?) males.
- [Notes (i): Baroni Urbani, 1977e: 78, cites 15w, 4q, 4m syntypes NHMB; (ii) Shattuck, 1994: 36, cites 16w, 4q, 4m syntypes (1w MHNG, 15w, 4q, 4m NHMB); (ii) Seifert, 2012b: 101, does not make clear if the 8 workers and 2 males he cited are actually paralectotypes as the only collection date noted in the original description is iv.1906]
