Countries Occupied
Number of countries occupied by this species based on AntWiki Regional Taxon Lists. In general, fewer countries occupied indicates a narrower range, while more countries indicates a more widespread species. |
Estimated Abundance
Relative abundance based on number of AntMaps records per species (this species within the purple bar). Fewer records (to the left) indicates a less abundant/encountered species while more records (to the right) indicates more abundant/encountered species. |

Nomenclature
The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's Online Catalogue of the Ants of the World.
- inermis. Aphaenogaster (Ischnomyrmex) araneoides var. inermis Forel, 1899c: 60 (w.m.) COSTA RICA, PANAMA.
- Type-material: lectotype worker (by designation of Mackay & Dash, 2016: 8), 5 paralectotype workers, 2 paralectotype males.
- Type-locality: lectotype Costa Rica: (no further data) (Tonduz); paralectotypes with same data.
- [Notes (i): other original syntype locality: Panama: Bugaba (Champion) (invalid restriction of type-locality by Kempf, 1972a: 23; no lectotype designated); (ii) there is inconsistency here as Forel, 1899c: 60, states that the Costa Rica sample contained only workers, while the Panama sample was of workers and males. Therefore the males designated as paralectotypes could not originate in Costa Rica, and both localities must be represented in the lectotype/paralectotype series.]
