  • In full face view, posterior of head broader than its anterior, the head narrowing towards the mandibles; medial clypeal margin convex and weakly angular; dorsal and posterior faces of propodeum rounding gradually into each other; body (including legs) covered with dense pubescence, the individual hairs overlapping => Brachyponera lutea

  • In full face view, posterior of head similar in width to its anterior, the head not noticeably narrower at the mandibles; medial clypeal margin weakly convex to nearly flat; dorsal and posterior faces of propodeum separated by a broad angle; body (including legs) with thin pubescence, the individual hairs generally not overlapping => Brachyponera croceicornis
