Identification

Longino (2003) - A Crematogaster crinosa-complex species, C. atra requires further taxonomic study. The Norton type series, from which the lectotype is chosen, has the general shape and pilosity characters of Crematogaster crinosa, the only difference being that the face is completely covered with fine, dense striae, with no smooth or shiny areas.
