†Shanwangella palaeoptera Zhang, J., 1989 |
The image and drawing of S. palaeoptera are sufficiently distinct and detailed to rule out the affiliation of this ant to the genus Camponotus as proposed by Hong & Wu (2000). Due to the presence of a radiomedial cell, its affiliation to Dolichoderinae is obvious. Perfilieva (2022), therefore, returned it to its original taxonomic position as Shanwangella palaeoptera.
As a result of this new combination, the genus Shanwangella is removed from synonym with Camponotus and transferred to the subfamily Dolichoderinae (a change not mentioned by Perfilieva (2022), but required because of this change to S. palaeoptera).
