Diagnosis
This species cannot be confounded with any of the described paussines. The unique shape of the antennal club especially characterizes it. In addition, the deep black color combined with the dark, thick, erect setae are not known from any other species. While blackish species are well represented in the fauna of the Oriental Region, such species are rare in the Afrotropical Region. The deep black color of the latter species is either restricted to the elytra (e.g., Paussus aureofimbriatus Wasmann, 1904) or the pubescence differs considerably as in Paussus viator Péringuey, 1896.
