Summary: Broad experience in research, teaching and management, gathered in six countries, including interdisciplinary activities at fundamental and applied level, such as consultancy, collaboration with industries, local authorities and academic institutions.

Present Position: 1991 to present: Professor of Ecology, DCEA-Dept Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, New University of Lisbon, Portugal.

Academic Degrees: Ph.D. and D.I.C., Imperial College, University of London, U.K (1977), Post-Doc Training, A. von Humboldt Fellow, University of Freiburg, Germany (1980–82); “Habilitation” in Ecology, New University of Lisbon, Portugal (1988).

Present fields of interest: Research: Chemical ecology, population dynamics, integrated forest protection, habitat and ecosystem management and rehabilitation. Teaching: Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. level in Terrestrial Ecology, Forest Management, Entomology. Coordination of ERASMUS / SOCRATES exchange programme of DCEA

Other Studies: Gender mainstreaming in science, founding member of the Portuguese Association of Women Scientists (2004).
